Thanks Barbara. No Whole Foods in our area I am afraid. I just ordered a couple of books from the library and hope to find a good bread recipe. I have a few that have been recommended for me to start with. It also sounds like Bisquik has a good gluten free baking mix that I want to try out. And about that little red hen....in order to reap any benefits, she would insist that I help...and I hate gardening. She'd end up eating it all herself!!

Thanks for replying!!

Jacquie - Forgive me for not doing the research on your diagnosis before commenting. But i can say giving up wheat does not mean giving up bread or all things resembling bread. I think i purchase at least 1 book a month for the library full of alternative recipes to wheat. Second only to diet books. The natural food store near us has a smelt bread that I love. I know you have Wegman's but do you have a Whole Foods> I recently read that they will be labeling all GM foods. Of course now that you are retired you could always get chickens and let the little red hen grow the wheat. :)

I was really ticked about Google Reader going by the wayside too. I was busy researching what best to switch to.

Still not sure. I don't like change...perhaps it is because I am (ahem)...Republican?

According to Merriam-Webster: "curmudgeon: a crusty, ill-tempered, and usually old man."

But I will assume that women can be the exception to the rule!! And much preferable to "old bag". Though I actually have fond memories of that term. My Irish (and fiercely Democratic) grandmother used to sign her letters to me TOB - short for "the old bag". And I am certainly relieved that I am not senile!!!

Hi Jacquie,

Don't you think curmudgeon is gender neutral? And I think you'd need to ask my wife just how "loveable" living with an old crank can be ;-)

Somehow I got my Feedly to show each item by heading, but given my faltering memory, I don't remember how. I do like the appearance of the Feedly posts - much more attractive than Reader. But I am still getting used to the new interface.

Maybe I will go back to Bloglines - which I abandoned for reader many years ago!

I don't sense you are getting senile so I highly doubt you are turning Republican.

Thanks Lynn! I will keep on plugging. The weather has been uncooperative with my walking efforts. So - now I get up during the commercials of the Dr. Ox show and walk up and down the stairs. Not nearly as scenic as my outdoor walks:-)

Friends like you are the best help of all!

The unknown/pending/frustrating/possible diagnosis (quickly given when one considers the 18 mo. of hunting for answers you've endured) is as unnerving as a 'bad haircut' by your hairdresser!! The hunt does point to a biopsy for sure. You are wise to insist on one. The one positive thing is that at least you don't feel that badly now, other than those pesky symptoms you've had for so-o-o-o long, unfortunately. Anyone (even Darth Vader) who can trip off those 3 miles fairly easily on a continual basis is doing quite well in my opinion. The answer is out there and with your determination you will find it. This blog will help gather helpful info. too I'm sure!! You can't find answers in my reply, but you can be assured of unfailing support and friendship for sure!!
